Case 024: Framed

Epilogue Letter

Hey,

Thank you again for all of your help. If it weren’t for you, things would have gone a whole lot differently in the police station.

I could tell the detectives who agreed to talk to us were itching to arrest me, at first, but Eric, my brother, did what lawyers do best and argued with them until they agreed to listen to us. By the time we finished explaining everything our investigation had turned up, they decided to drop their case against me.

I’m a free man, and it’s all thanks to you and everyone who agreed to help me. I really don’t know what I’d do if it wasn’t for all of you.

Although the detectives couldn’t comment on an open investigation, I suspect they’ll be paying Dante Esposito and the rest of the Moretti crime family a visit soon. Even if they can’t arrest the entire crime family, hopefully, they’ll at least be able to build a case against Dante so that they can get justice for Reid.

Speaking of Reid, you’re never going to believe what I found in my mailbox when I finally got back to my office. Apparently, Reid must have sent me a letter and a gift card to his movie theater shortly before he was murdered.

Reid’s message is pretty strange but, in it, he mentions recording the Moretti family dealing drugs – presumably at his movie theater. If the Moretti family found out about his recording, it’s no wonder they decided to have him killed.

What really stands out to me about the message, however, is that Reid mentions hiding the video. If the Moretti family still hasn’t found it, that means there is evidence out there that could help bring more of them down. Considering they murdered Reid and almost got me thrown in prison, I’d love to get my hands on the recording and turn it over to the police. The more we can do to take these people off of the streets, the better.

Unfortunately, we don’t have much to go off of aside from Reid’s message and the gift card. I also don’t want to stick my nose into this too far. If I do, I’m afraid the police might decide to focus on me as a murder suspect again.

That said, if you happen to figure out where Reid’s recording is and you’d like to let me know, you can visit www.SleuthKings.com/Case-024-Reid to send me an email. If you figure it out, I’ll be happy to let the police know so that they can use the recording to arrest more of the Moretti goons.

Thank you again for your help with this one. You really saved my life. I can’t wait to work with you next time.

Sullivan
